Yes, this is how it was done BEFORE there were microphones. The recording horn! This is a picture of Bix Beiderbecke and his band recording in a 'state of the art' recording studios of the early twenties. He has his arm around the neck of a very young Tommy Dorsey and on the left is that legendarty of banjoists, whose name defines the very spirit of American capitalism...Howdy Quicksell!!!
